TOROS & TOREROS/TOROS Y TOREROS
This 21x26cm 192-page hardback book, available in either English or Spanish, contains over 200 colour photographs. It records the toreros, ganaderías and events that have most impressed Tristan since he attended his first Spanish feria in 1968, and forms a personal history of 50 years of tauromaquia.
“Tristan Wood has a rare gift for capturing pictures and recording events… The close marriage of image to text means that, seriously read together, they transmit the movement of body and bull, wrist, waist and lure in lance and pass… [Wood] recognises that the Fiesta has its depths as well as its summits; that not all toreros are at their best every day; that the torero’s life is tough compared with the relatively easy one of the toro bravo. All of these aspects, and many more, emerge in his writing. It is writing that is honestly subjective, as near to an updated history of bullfighting as readers without access to Spanish sources are ever likely to find and as generous as seasoned aficionados could ask for… Throughout his book, Tristan Wood is detailed in his record; artistic in his presentation; bountiful in his praise; charitable with his criticism; and sensitive towards the many protagonists of la Fiesta Brava he has found room for in his head. Those wise and fortunate enough to buy and read this book will find much to inform and entertain in a much-needed elevating experience.”

HOW TO WATCH A BULLFIGHT
“It's the best guide of its kind: a total newcomer could learn enough from it to become a better aficionado than 99 per cent of the tendidos of your average Spanish ring.”
“It is excellent. Established aficionados will learn from it and it fills a much needed gap in the market for those who are new, or comparatively new, to the world of bulls.”
“The most matter-of-fact and the most comprehensive guide to contemporary toreo in print. It is an excellent introduction for the merely curious and a worthy handbook for beginning and intermediate aficionadas and aficionados who want to improve their critical faculties.”
